Etsy fees in 2026: the full list

Etsy charges two mandatory fees on every sale plus one conditional fee. Here is every fee a standard US seller pays, and when each applies:

FeeRateWhen it applies
Listing fee$0.20 per listingEvery listing; auto-renews every 4 months
Transaction fee6.5% of order totalEvery sale — includes shipping you charge and gift wrap
Payment processing3% + $0.25 (US)Every order through Etsy Payments
Offsite Ads15% (under $10K/yr) or 12% (at $10K+)Only on orders from Etsy's offsite ads; mandatory above $10K
Currency conversion2.5%When listing currency differs from payout currency
Regulatory operating fee~0.3–0.5%Some countries only

On a typical US sale, mandatory fees add up to roughly 9.5–10.5% of the order total. Add an Offsite Ads sale and the effective take jumps past 20% — which is why pricing without fee math quietly kills margins.

How to price so you keep a real margin

Work backwards from the profit you want instead of guessing at a price. A simple formula sellers use:

Minimum price ≈ (materials + labor + shipping + desired profit) ÷ (1 − 0.097) + $0.45

Example: $8 materials + $10 labor + $7 profit goal → (8 + 10 + 7) ÷ 0.903 + 0.45 ≈ $28.15 minimum listing price. Run your own numbers in the calculator above.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?

On a US sale: $0.20 listing + 6.5% transaction + 3% + $0.25 processing — roughly 9.5–10.5% of the order total. Offsite Ads sales add 15% or 12% on top.

Is the transaction fee charged on shipping?

Yes — the 6.5% applies to the whole order total, including the shipping you charge, gift wrap, and personalization.

Does Etsy charge fees on digital downloads?

Yes. Same transaction and processing fees apply; there's just no shipping cost. Set shipping fields to 0 in the calculator.

What profit margin should I aim for?

Most experienced sellers target 30%+ after all fees and costs. Below 20%, one ad-driven sale or a refund can wipe out a week of profit.
